Systems Management Installation

Systems Management:

Systems Management is an important component of every computer network.  The ability to create queries and reports containing all software and hardware in your environment is extremely valuable- especially in larger environments.  In addition, being able to push out software (including security patches and service packs) from central location can lower costs of maintaining a computer network.  There are several solutions available.  Our most popular request  is for Microsoft Systems Management Server- one of the most cost-effective robust technologies available.

Our Microsoft Certified Professionals can also help fix your current SMS 2.0 or SMS 2003 environment.  In many cases, simply cleaning the SQL database will resolve multiple problems.  We can identify and fix just about any SMS client issue.  In addition, SMS related work can be performed remotely through VPN's.  This will minimize costs involved with the overall repair of your SMS environment.

NJCN can also help incorporate Software Update Services (SUS), a Microsoft patch management solution, into your existing SMS environment.  This will greatly reduce costs involved in patching your servers and workstations.  SUS is free from Microsoft and includes a web interface that you can use to generate reports concerning the SMS client community.  This allows for the total management of your security patch levels currently running on each client computer.

Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) Features:

bullet

Software and Hardware Inventory:  System administrators gain the ability to deploy applications and software updates from a central location.  This can save time and money as this technology will reduce the amount of time needed to visit each desktop and server within your organization.

bullet

Asset Management:  System administrators will gain the ability to track all Windows based software and hardware assets located within your organization.  This includes all software and hardware located on servers, desktops, and laptops.  There is no longer a need to keep manual spread sheets listing all computers within your company.

bullet

Remote Troubleshooting:  SMS administrators will gain the ability to use various remote tools to trouble shoot and manage all servers, desktops, and laptops from a central location.  The most valuable tool is called Remote Control.  This allow SMS administrators to view and control the desktop of a remote workstation or server.  This technology will save your organization both time and money as this will reduce the amount of time needed to visit each desktop and/or servers.

Note 1: For more information about SMS 2.0/2003, please view Microsofts web site:  http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/

Note 2: For more information about how SMS 2.0/2003 and SUS (Software Update Services) can help you company manage Microsoft Operating System and Office security updates, please visit the following web site: http://www.microsoft.com/smserver/evaluation/datasheets/PatchDeploy.asp

There are other Systems Management software available.  Each product has advantages and disadvantages.  For example, your company may not require all of the features of SMS 2.0/2003.  NJCN will help you evaluate your needs and then recommend the proper technology for your business.

As with all of our solutions, we will train your staff in using the new software package and will provide support for the product if needed.
